Stinkin' Cold Weather

I am not ready for the cold weather to be here already. Living up North, it truly takes a few weeks of exposing yourself to the cold before you can grow a thick skin against it, and those few weeks are hell! I need to call the detail shop to get a quote for a car starter soon!

I am digging out hats and mittens for me and Riley and getting used to the too soon cold weather. We had some snow this past weekend and he couldn't get his snow pants on fast enough, though none of it stuck.

Dinners at my parents house remain fabulous. There is a fire in the fireplace, warm blankets to snuggle with, and lots of good books and magazines at the ready. It's just what I need.

I am currently reading "Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. My sister has suggested this book many times, and I finally found it through the library. It's so different, but really appeals to me in that the author points out so many things in life that I totally agree with. Some of the topics she covers are things I have been thinking for years and thought I was the only one having such crazy thoughts. Now I know I'm completely normal. Ahem.

My dad is baking apple pies and will soon start making bread and cinnamon rolls again, my mom and I have been using up the last of the tomatoes to make salsa, and the cans of pumpkin have come out of the pantry for pies and bread. I love Fall, it's truly my favorite season. I am in the process of organizing my recipes, again, and will share some of them with you soon.
